FAQs
What is Key Club?
Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through service to others. As members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. Key Club has over 251,000 members in approximately 5,000 clubs and is currently represented in 40 countries.
How do I join?
Key Club applications are normally found in the Front Office during the annual service club application process or in a digital format via QR codes posted around school. Applications must be filled out correctly and turned in on time. Candidates are interviewed and are judged in front of the current Key Club student body. If a person wants to join Key, they've got to show their dedication for service! Students in all years are permitted to apply. For more information on how to join, see our Join page.
What is the cost of membership?
Dues of $20 must be paid per member at the beginning of each year. If a member has financial problems, do not hesitate on consulting with our current club presidents, Han and Rein, or our club advisor, Mr. Benton, in room 1-223.
What are the requirements to stay in key club?
Members must have 25 points by the end of each semester, meaning a total of 50 points for the year. There are some exceptions for some grade levels though. Members who do not achieve 25 points by the end of the first semester will be placed on probation. Members on probation who do not make up the points to have a total of 50 by the end of the year will be dismissed from the club. To check your points, click here. For more information on our requirements and exceptions, see the Requirements page.

How did Key Club get its name?
In 1925, California State Commissioner of Schools Albert C. Olney and vocational education teacher Frank C. Vincent worked to establish the first Key Club at Sacramento High School in California. This club was comprised of the key boys in the school, willing to serve the school in any way possible and to create better school spirit. Thus, the club was dubbed Key Club.
